Kayla AK: Sacramento’s Rising Voice in Rap and Influence

From Sacramento, California, to recording studios throughout the country, Kayla AK is turning passion into purpose, line by line. A passionate influencer as well as recording artist, she’s building a legacy based on integrity, hustle, and heart.

Kayla’s life was scored to hip-hop from an early age. Riding in the backseat, windows down and speakers rumbling, next to her father and older brother, she surrounded herself with legends like Tupac, Clipse, Eminem, and DMX. They were not childhood memories, though; they were seeds to something more.

“I started in poetry as I was not yet able to speak my truth,” Kayla says. “But rap eventually gave me the voice that I needed.” At 12, she was writing full verses and rapping to her favorite beats. Over time, the hobby turned into a craft and a life calling.

Following one’s passion, though, is not always straightforward, especially if discouragement is introduced by loved ones. Discouragement hit Kayla early on from peers whom she idolized. A few of her classmates were not able to accept her success and even tried to discourage her from doing music altogether. One of them even insisted that she abandon rapping and specialize in doing podcasts only.

Thanks to constant support from her brother Damion, Kayla regained her direction. “He told me who I was and why I began,” she says. That conversation flipped something. Since, in two years, she’s been in grind mode, no break, putting out singles, doing visuals, booking time in the studio, networking state to state.

Kayla’s voice exists beyond music as well. She is also featured on podcasts throughout California, Nevada, Florida, and Georgia, sharing her life and connecting with individuals of every demographic. In front of any mic or on any stage, she provides that same raw, real, and unflinching energy.

What sets Kayla apart is that she is not bound by sound or geography. Sacramento is where she’s from, but her influences are global, and her sound is evolving. “If it’s something that I can relate to, I’ll write about it. I don’t worry about what everybody else is doing. I care about what is real to me.” And she doesn’t do anything half-measured. “I’m giving 200%,” she says. “Every recording session, every verse, every shoot.”

While mainstream fame remains elusive, Kayla AK is undoubtedly on the rise and doing it in the best possible way with integrity, intent, and an unmatched work ethic. She is looking to make her mark in the years to come.
