TikTok Comedy Led To a Million-Dollar Music Deal for Ness The Kid

Record deals are getting harder and harder to get, especially for underprivileged artists in underrepresented areas. Meet Ness The Kid, the TikTok sensation who’s rewriting the rules of digital stardom. His story isn’t your typical rags-to-riches tale. It’s a blend of raw humor, gritty reality, and melodic escapades. Ness started off making people chuckle with his comedy videos in the neighborhood. Today, he’s not just a familiar face on TikTok; he’s a music creator with a million-dollar record deal.

Six years ago, Ness found himself at a crossroads. Life had taken a dark turn, plagued by robbery and street fights. In the midst of chaos, music emerged as his savior. It was more than a hobby; it was his lifeline, his escape from a life spiraling out of control. And it paid off.

Before TikTok, Ness didn’t have a platform to amplify his voice. But once he saw the potential in TikTok, there was no looking back. He dove headfirst into the platform, dedicating his time and creative energy. The risk paid off, transforming him from an aspiring artist to a viral sensation. He gained success, starting out creating relatable “hood” comedy, that resonated with underprivileged communities, setting him apart from many other comedians, such as Matt Rife, Pete Davidson, or even Dave Chappelle.

Ness’s collaborations with Lil Maceee are more than just musical partnerships. They’re a testament to their shared history, growing up together on the same block. Despite their current fame, they haven’t forgotten their roots, which were far from the glitz and glamor of the music world. They released a song titled “Did You Start?” as a tribute to their viral videos, in which they often began the video using the phrase “Did You Start?” as a comedic opening to an often over-the-top skit. These videos generated hundreds of millions of views for the pair on not only TikTok, but also on other platforms such as YouTube and Instagram Reels. It’s a humorous nod to their less-than-impressive past in street confrontations. TikTok played a vital role in making this track a phenomenon, turning them into an instant viral internet meme.

But they are determined to pull away from their past of being known as internet memes, as Ness teases his upcoming album, excitement buzzes among fans. Collaborations with names like Kyle Richh, Jenn Carter, and Lil Xan hint at an eclectic mix that’s bound to resonate with his audience, but also establish them as viable artists who don’t have to rely on just internet stardom to propel their music.
